>Vanceboro Farm Life Kindergarten Class Donates $1700 to Haiti Relief!

>
Kindergarten Teacher Lisha Farr empowered her students at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School to collect money for disaster victims in Haiti.

The kindergarteners’ initial goal was $1200 in “Pennies for Haiti” as they were collecting $1 for each mile that separated Vanceboro from Haiti.

With the help from other students and school staff they exceeded the goal by $500! With over $1700, they were proud to give the check to the Robert Toler, Disaster Coordinator for the Coastal Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross. The donation will be deposited into the International Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund. Channel 12 (WCTI) was on site to film the special moment.

Thank you Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School for your hard work and for the significant donation!

A special thanks to Kristi Nobles at the Coastal Environmental Partnership for bringing this story to New Bern Now’s attention!
