>CenturyLink Reports Possible Identity Theft/Scam

>We have received several calls this week from members who were contacted by someone claiming to work for CenturyLink and wanting to update customer records. We believe this may be attempted identity theft/scam, with the individuals seeking to obtain personal information such as tax ID, social security number, and date of birth. CenturyLink is not connected to these individuals; in addition, CenturyLink wants to assure our members that they will never contact you and ask for your personal information.

CenturyLink has local representatives who periodically contact businesses to do account and product reviews, but they will never ask you to provide personal information via fax or other means. The following local CenturyLink representatives may contact you regarding your account:

Lori Baker
Major Account Manager for New Bern and Morehead City
(252) 636-2700

Marrie Castelli
Sales Partner to Lori Baker
(800) 529-4259 Ext. 6214

“CenturyLink has been a member of the New Bern Chamber for more than 35 years. We value the relationship we have with our fellow Chamber members, and want to help them protect their account information,” states Derek Kelly, Public Relations Manager for CenturyLink. “If you are ever unsure that you are speaking with a CenturyLink representative, please hang up and contact Lori Baker or Marrie Castelli, or you can call me directly at (252) 635-5138.”
