>Fishing Report for New Bern, NC

>

Giant red drum are showing in the Neuse River and are plentiful in the Sound. Tarpon are also in the Sound with a few in the River. We’re still catching a few slot and over slot redfish in the Oriental area with good flounder catches and a few specks. New Bern has still producing a decent top water striper bite. I have openings for tarpon and drum, although my drum dates are getting more limited. Call soon to book your dates!

Capt. Gary will be featured on Carolina Outdoor Journal on Sept 10/11 fishing near New Bern for striped bass. The show will air on Saturday at 5:30pm and at 11am on Sunday. Filmed this past March, we’re catching pre-spawn fish on DOA CAL jigs & bodies using TFO Loomis spinning and casting tackle. This should get you fired up for the great fall fishing there, much of it on top water! Be sure to contact us soon for great fall dates.

Capt. Gary will be filming another episode of George Poveromo’s World of Salt Water Fishing this drum season. Capt. Gary was featured twice before on George’s shows, once fishing out of Oriental for giant red drum and the other in New Bern striper fishing in the fall. George’s show is now on Versus after ESPN canceled all their fishing shows and we’ll announce the dates the new show will air. You can also catch re-runs of the above shows on WFN.
