After receiving a cell phone call from an out of state relative telling us that Hurricane Irene passed New Bern in the early morning, a friend and I ventured out to capture this video at 10:30am on August 27, 2011.
What we didn’t know because the power was out was we were probably in the middle of the storm. This video doesn’t do justice to the impact the hurricane had on the Greater New Bern area to include many homes that were on the Neuse and Trent Rivers and their tributaries.
Special thanks to Progress Energy and City of New Bern Utilities for their hard work in responding to power outages. The power just came back on at 8:30pm, tonight, August 28, 2011.
