Wow! With the help of our community, the Tryon Civitan Club outdid themselves again during their “Soup for Souls” can drive for the Salvation Army!

Pat Drake stated they collected a total of “1,708 POUNDS – needless to say the Salvation Army was delighted & very thankful. We tried to literally collect a ton of food (2000 lbs – maybe next year). Previous years, we collected only soup – Soup for Souls for the Salvation Army. But this year, when we contacted the Salvation Army folks, they asked for more substantial food items in addition to soup. Things like canned pasta, spaghettio’s, mac & cheese, etc. While soup is nutritious, the other items are more filling.”

In 2011, The Tryon Civitans collected 1,726 cans and in 2010 they collected 1,027 cans – not pounds!

Super job, Tryon Civitan and members of our community for supporting the Salvation Army! Special thanks to the UPS Store and Snap Fitness for being drop off locations.
