Support victims of Hurricane Sandy

Please join in our efforts to help those families located in NYC and surrounding areas affected by Hurricane Sandy.

George and Pat Aswad are owners of local businesses Crabby Patty’s restaurant on Highway 70 in Havelock and Crystal Coast Lady Cruises in Beaufort and New Bern.  Pat’s sister and father have both lost the homes to flood and fire and in their desire to help their own family and friends, other have voiced a desire to help as many as possible.  Therefore, the Aswads have volunteered their restaurant as a drop point for donations that will be transported to NYC leaving early Monday morning 11/5/2012.

The local news channels and radio stations have assisted in getting the word out.  No cash donations will be accepted, but the following items would be greatly appreciated: canned fruits,  canned vegetables, peanut butter, pasta, rice, cereal, bottled water, toiletries (deodorant, shampoo, hand soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes) paper products (toilet paper, facial tissue, paper towels), baby items (food, formula, disposable diapers, baby wipes, clothing (men, women, and any size children’s clothes), shoes (men’s 8 – 11 and women’s 7 – 10), blankets, pillows, sheets, dog food and cat food.
