Laura Johnson interviewed April Fitchett, Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity of Craven County, to learn more about our local Habitat for Humanity. Listen to the audio to be aired on Radio Free ENC’s WNOS 105.9FM and 1450AM here:

When asked what Habitat for Humanity does for our community, April said, “Habitat for Humanity of Craven County is a “Hands up” organization. We help people with homes by providing no interest loans and free labor. They also must put in 200 labor hours on their homes along with $1000 down and make monthly payments”.

April told us that their current needs are, “donations to their ReStore. We are currently in need of gently used appliances and furniture. We resell them to the public through the store to raise money. Shopping in our ReStore is also a great way to help our community”.

Laura asked her, “How can people help you help the community”? April responded, “Our local civic organizations and churches can “help us raise money” by performing car washes, pancake dinners, raffles, along with other fundraisers. They are all great ways to helping us serve the community”. Habitat for Humanity of Craven County also needs volunteers.
