Healthy Noodle Alternatives

Confession: Here at BeyondFit Physiques we are PASTA lovers.

But we know that pasta isn’t always physique friendly.

In our pre-BeyondFit days, it was a main dish loaded with carbs, but now that we’re living the fat loss lifestyle, we’ve come up with some great pasta alternatives that serve a go-to ingredient when creating low-carb, fat loss friendly “noodle” dishes.

Here are some of our favorite pasta swaps, perfect for changing things up to turn traditional pasta recipes into fat loss friendly, healthy recipes.

3 Healthy “Noodle” Alternatives:

1. Zucchini Noodles: Zucchini noodles are a phenomenal fettuccine swap, and they work great in lasagna as well.

How-to:

Start by peeling zucchini into super-thin strips; rotate the zucchini as you slice it. Cook in a covered skillet with 1/3 cup water until tender but al dente (about 5 minutes).

2. Broccoli Slaw

How-to:

The trick here is to cook the slaw until it’s super-duper soft. Cook it in a covered skillet with 1/2 cup water (10 minutes or so) or in a covered dish in the microwave with 2 tbsp. water (about 3 minutes).

3. Spaghetti Squash: Spahgetti squash is a healthy noodle alternative that’s really versatile. It’s great in almost every recipe we’ve tried!
