Members from Toastmaster clubs in New Bern, Havelock, Jacksonville and Morehead City will compete in Saturday’s event that includes two categories.   The first category is Best Inspirational Speech, where contestants present a five to seven minutes long prepared speech.  The second competitive category will be for best Table Topics Speech, a skill in extemporaneous speaking, where each contestant will be asked an unknown question on an unknown topic and is required to speak for a minimum of one minute and a maximum of two and half minutes.

“The Toastmasters organization has been committed to helping individuals improve their speaking and leadership skills for 90 years and over 60 years in North Carolina. This training includes time-tested techniques, developed by Toastmasters International.

Come join us on Saturday for a morning filled with fun and great speakers from our neighboring clubs. Observe how we are committed to helping you on your journey to personal growth and development”, commented Speech Contest Chairperson and New Bern Toastmasters President Susan Namowicz.

Everyone is invited and please bring a friend.

People join Toastmasters for various reasons. Becoming a member provides a great opportunity to hone speaking skills, overcome fear of public speaking, prepare for job interviews, and develop leadership skills in a supportive and self-paced environment. Toastmasters provides the more seasoned speaker with opportunities to develop special capabilities, to compete on the regional, state and national level, and to participate in the speaker’s bureau.

New Bern Toastmasters Club meets every Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Monarch’s Health Services Building, 1320 Health Drive. Guests are always welcome!
