Foundation awards Nine Nursing Scholarships to Students

The CarolinaEast Foundation will be awarding six nursing scholarships to local area students and three nursing scholarships to CarolinaEast nurses pursuing advanced degrees.  These scholarships will be presented at the Joseph Hageman Nursing Appreciation Dinner on May 25th.  The dinner will be held at the Flame Catering and Banquet Center in New Bern (to purchase tickets and for dinner details see the bottom of this email). Information about each of the 2016 Hageman Scholars can be found below.

Leigh Anne Hollar resides in New Bern. She is the daughter of Gary and Melissa Hollar.  Leigh Anne is enrolled in the ENC RIBN program, dually enrolled in both Southeastern Community College and University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She will begin her first year of the program at Southeastern Community College in the Fall.

Hunter Jones resides in Morehead City. She is the daughter of Wanda Jones and Spencer Jones. Hunter is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Alexandria Kirian resides in New Bern. She is the daughter of Gregory and Elizabeth Kirian.  Alexandria is enrolled in the ENC RIBN program, dually enrolled in both Craven Community College and East Carolina University. She will begin her first year in the program at Craven Community College in the Fall.

Brianna Overbey resides in New Bern. She is the daughter of Jeannie Jarman and granddaughter of Betty Rouse.  Brianna is currently enrolled in the ENC RIBN program, dually enrolled in both Craven Community College and East Carolina University. She will begin her second year of the program at Craven Community College in the Fall.

Taylor Sutton resides in Dover. She is the daughter of Woody Sutton, Jr. and Melissa Sutton.  Taylor is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Barton College.

Nicolas West resides in New Bern. He is the son of Glenn and Rebecca West.  Nicolas is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at East Carolina University.

CarolinaEast Advanced Nursing Degree Scholarship Recipients

Amanda Sawyer lives in Olympia with her husband, Michael, and three children. Amanda works in 4Neuro and has been employed at CarolinaEast for 12 years. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing Education at East Carolina University.

Casey Toler resides in Vanceboro with her husband, Scott, and two children. Casey is a Clinical Educator for the Maternal Child Division and has been employed at CarolinaEast for 21 years. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science degree in Nursing Education at East Carolina University.

Margo Waters lives in New Bern with her husband, Ryan, and her son. Margo works on the Clinical Decision and Observation Unit and has been employed at CarolinaEast for 8 years.  She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing, enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Duke University.
