Last Dash Out of Coastal Carolina Regional Airport (EWN)

Coastal Carolina Regional AirportThe Coastal Carolina Regional Airport Authority announced today the American Airlines turboprop aircraft that have ferried passengers to and from the Charlotte airport for over 20 years is making their last scheduled trip on Wednesday, July 4, 2018.  American’s Dash 8 turboprop aircraft, which are operated by Piedmont Airlines, will be replaced by Embraer 145 Regional Jets.  This change will provide EWN with “all commercial jet service all of the time,” said Airport Director, Andrew Shorter.  Other regional air carriers operating from EWN already operate all jet fleets.

There will be a celebration for passengers and employees at Location Gate 2 at EWN with a celebratory water spray over the 3:48 p.m. departing flight to signify its final departure from EWN.  General Manager, Karen Bruchstein, American Airlines EWN mentioned “for those non-secure identification display area former employees that are interested in attending, please see a representative at the American Airlines EWN ticket counter.”
