New Bern Alzheimer’s Walk Replaced by Celebration

Alzheimer's Walk New BernEvery year, the Alzheimer’s Association hosts the New Bern Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The event raises funds to support education, provide resources for the area’s caregivers and research to find a cure for our nation’s sixth-leading cause of death.

However, this year is different. As the New Bern community remains focused on recovery and rebuilding efforts following Hurricane Florence, the New Bern Walk to End Alzheimer’s has been cancelled. A no obligation New Bern Walk Celebration will be held in its place to celebrate supporters of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The New Bern community is invited to come out to the New Bern Walk Celebration on Saturday, November 3 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event, free to the public, will be held at the central area of the O’Marks Building at 233 Middle Street.

The New Bern Walk Celebration will include entertainment by Tom’s Tunes, refreshments, face painting, magician, balloon artist, Zumba dancing and the opportunity to win great prizes. Attendees will be able to turn in any donations they’ve collected, customize promise garden flowers, and take pose for photos.

Funds raised will go to the Alzheimer’s Association Eastern North Carolina chapter to continue efforts to support caregivers, individuals living with Alzheimer’s, and researchers in North Carolina. Visit alz.org/nc to learn more and register a team.
