Grin Kids’ Dreams Start Coming True Friday
The nationally syndicated Ace & TJ Show will be taking 21 children who are chronically ill and terminally disabled to the happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World, for the 11th consecutive year. The trip officially begins this Friday at the Charlotte Douglas Airport’s send-off celebration and runs through Tuesday, October 5th at Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The Ace & TJ Show, Eastern Carolina’s morning show on Bob 93.3 (WERO-FM) started the Grin Kids, a 501(c) (3) charity January of 2000 to enhance the lives of children who are chronically disabled and terminally ill. To date, 222 Grin Kids have made the trip to Disney World with us. The name of the organization comes from Ace & TJ’s motto on their morning show, “You Grin, You’re In!”
For our “11th Year of Magic” 19 families with special needs children will accompany the Ace & TJ Show to Disney World. During the 5-day vacation, all expenses are taken care of, including air travel (on a chartered US Airways 737), ground transportation, Disney Park-Hopper passes, meals, and hotel rooms at a Disney Resort, and Disney Dollars for souvenirs. In addition, a pediatrician and nurse from Bayada Nurses will be on hand to help ACE & TJ’s Grin Kids throughout the trip. From start to finish it is a life changing experience for all involved.
The trip begins at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Friday, October 1st with a major send-off celebration. Entertainment from area mascots, local firefighters, police departments, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Bobcats, guest speakers, and surprises. Honored Guests this year include North Carolina Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, known for his dedication and service work for our area’s youth.
For the first time on the Grin Kids trip, people can not only listen to the show, but can watch it live with our video webcast. The broadcast, featuring interview with the Grin Kids and their families can be viewed on
