>Ratio Theatre Company Announces Change in Organization

Ratio Theatre Company has announced that Alan Berger, will resign as a Managing Partner, effective March 31, 2012.

Alan co-founded Ratio Theatre Company, a non-profit corporation, with Joey Infinito in 2009.  He directed four of Ratio’s most acclaimed productions including the company’s premier, ‘ART’ which helped solidify the image and artistic vision for the theatre group. “I knew at the start that this would be a full time commitment, said Berger, and I’ve enjoyed every moment despite the struggles of beginning a start-up company.  Joey and I have an enduring friendship and a great working relationship in both the artistic and business aspects of the company.  I believe in everything that Ratio is doing and I’m very proud to have been a founder.”

“His (Berger’s) dedication and commitment to the company has been incalculable.” Said Joey Infinito, Co-Founder and Managing Partner with Berger.  “From the very start, he has shared a vision and worked tirelessly to help insure its realization.”

Coming at the close of Ratio’s 3rd full theatrical season, his efforts seem to be paying off.  The company has produced eleven successful productions and several non-season special events including The Glen Miller Orchestra and the upcoming children’s opera Brundibar.  They are poised for a fourth season of thought provoking, professional theatre and are hinting at some exciting changes in the coming months. “Ratio will forever be indebted to Alan as we continue to grow and build on the strength of the foundation that he has laid.” said Infinito. “I am proud to have worked so closely with him for the last few years and am better for it.  His wisdom and expertise has, and will continue to inspire myself and this company to strive for greatness.”

Berger said, “This was a tough decision, kind of like the same experience when your child leaves home.  I’ve been devoted to the success of Ratio since its founding in 2009.  Now it’s time for me to back away from a full time role to get some time to do other things. I informed Joey of my intention in September, 2011 so we could plan the transition with minimum disruption. I hope to remain involved with Ratio in a lesser capacity.  I want to continue to be a contributor to Ratio’s success.”

Andrea Owens, Ratio’s Director of Development had this to say, “I have loved working with Alan both on and off-stage.  Although we will miss having Alan at the helm, here at Ratio, we will no doubt continue to enjoy his artistic efforts well into the future.”

Alan Berger will continue to direct shows for Ratio and be involved in special projects from time to time.

About New Bern Now
Editor-in-Chief, Wendy Card, founded New Bern Now in April 2009. There were a number of reasons she developed the website. While stationed in Washington DC, she had 30 days to transfer to Naval Hospital Cherry Point and didn’t know much about the area. She was frustrated because there wasn’t a central location on the Internet for information about New Bern. Wendy retired from the Navy in Oct 2007. When our economy dived, she was trying to find her way in life and decided to give back to the community by creating a website that provided a “One Stop, Information Shop” to help people find out what’s happening in our community along with creating a free business listing to help business owners who couldn’t afford to advertise.
