Join Craven County Clean Sweep and keep our streets and waterways clean!

Craven County Clean Sweep sponsors three annual clean up events on the first Saturdays of February, May and October to help keep New Bern streets and waterways free of litter. The upcoming one will be Saturday, October 6th, but if that day is not convenient, you can choose another day that fits your schedule!

You can choose to help out in any of these ways: by walking along the streets in your own neighborhood; by using your boat to clean up the waterway of your choice; by meeting with others at Lawson Creek Park on that Saturday at 9am to be assigned a spot or by simply picking any other “trashy” area that’s been bothering you. The amount of time you spend on this is totally up to you – it can be 15 minutes or a few hours. Bags will be provided. For more information, call 633-1477.

Also, there will be a Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Event at Craven Community College on Saturday, October 13th from 8am – 1pm. For more information on that, call 633-1564.

About New Bern Now
Editor-in-Chief, Wendy Card, founded New Bern Now in April 2009. There were a number of reasons she developed the website. While stationed in Washington DC, she had 30 days to transfer to Naval Hospital Cherry Point and didn’t know much about the area. She was frustrated because there wasn’t a central location on the Internet for information about New Bern. Wendy retired from the Navy in Oct 2007. When our economy dived, she was trying to find her way in life and decided to give back to the community by creating a website that provided a “One Stop, Information Shop” to help people find out what’s happening in our community along with creating a free business listing to help business owners who couldn’t afford to advertise.
