In celebration of the 40th anniversary of The Motown Sound, New Bern Civic Theatre proudly presents an evening of distinctive soul-infused pop music that solidified its popularity in American culture and defined a generation.
The Motown Sound is a powerful mixture of blues, jazz, R&B, classical and pop that created hits that are danceable, melodic and diverse; funky and classy, all at once.
Directed by music veteran, John Van Dyke and performed by an all-star cast, they croon and belt out over 30 hits from the 1960s. A few of the all-time hits include My Boyfriend’s Back, Sweet Talkin’ Guy, Leader of the Pack, and Downtown.
Groove to the music and transport yourself back to the rockin’ 60s with beehive hairdos and smooth moves.
Three extravaganza performances available June 10 and 11 at 8 pm and June 12 at 2 pm. Don’t miss the movin’ and groovin’!
