Adopt a Cat or Dog from Colonial Capital Humane Society!

Thea Kincaid of Thea’s Ideas and I had another fun learning experience at the Colonial Capital Humane Society’s (CCHS) “No Kill Cat Shelter”.

This was our second visit in a little over a year, as CCHS won New Bern Now’s “Favorite Charity” Blog contest!

President, Leslie Geiter, gave us an update of their progress. CCHS currently has 43 dogs and 60 cats ready for adoption. They are spayed/neutered and are up to date on all their shots.

The dogs and kittens are in foster homes and they are always in need of foster parents. The cats enjoy their new found outdoor enclosure attached to the “No Kill Cat Shelter” trailer located at 1860 Old Airport Rd. in New Bern, NC.

We learned something new today as the CCHS not only adopts animals from roadside rescues and people who call because they can’t care for their animals, they also rescue animals from the Craven/Pamlico Animal Services Center from being euthanized!

Stay tuned to the Colonial Capital Humane Society’s website to learn more about their upcoming events! Their yard sales begin in March, the Adopt-a-thon is scheduled for March 10th at PetSense, and their membership drive will be held at PetSense on April 21st.

Cats are always available for adoption at PetSense and applications for dogs are accepted on their website.

Leslie’s proud of the fact that Craven County residents support the Humane Society!

You can help the Colonial Capital Humane Society by becoming a foster parent, volunteering, donating in-kind gifts, or making a monetary donation!
