Support our Neighbors with Eight Days of Hope!

Thea Kincaid and I met with Steve Tybor, President of Eight Days of Hope and Dawn Baldwin Gibson, Chair for the Pamlico County Disaster Recovery Coalition.

This was my first time meeting Steve Tybor. We are from the same neck of the woods in the Buffalo, NY area. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Dawn during a previous interview.

Steve and Dawn gave us an update on the upcoming Eight Days of Hope mission for Pamlico County.

If you’re unaware of the progress, 8 Days of Hope is coming to Pamlico County to rebuild homes after Hurricane Irene’s destruction in August 2011. The County’s residents suffered massive property destruction and people are still displaced almost 9 months later.

8 Days of Hope will be coming to Pamlico County to rebuild and refurbish at least 200 homes between May 26 – June 2, 2012. Their goal is to have at least 2,000 volunteers assist in the project.

The 8 Days of Hope (8 DOH) ministry began when Steve Tybor, now President, his Father, and a few other people traveled to the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Since then, 8 DOH has continued to grow.

Thea Kincaid has joined forces with Dawn Baldwin Gibson to help promote and volunteer for this special project. Please contact Thea or Dawn by clicking on their names above and sending them an email if you would like them to be a guest speaker for your community group of place of worship.

For more information, please visit Eight Days of Hope’s website to volunteer, donate money, or ask any questions.

Special thanks to Steve, Dawn, and Thea for sharing the information about this terrific event! I look forward to receiving updates on the progress.
