Religious Community Services (RCS) hires Shelter Director

Alice MacArthur

RCS is pleased to announce that Alice MacArthur is the new Shelter Director effective October 2015. Alice brings several years of non-profit experience to RCS as a business leader and as a volunteer. Prior to joining RCS, Alice owned a successful food truck business called “Who’s Hungry?”, where she developed a mission called Loaves & Fishes. Proceeds from sales and tips were used to “pay it forward” to homeless guests who could not afford anything to eat. Alice will bring her compassion for helping those in need to her new experience at RCS by developing new programs that will help shelter guests achieve independence and responsibility.

RCS is a non-profit community organization that provides food, shelter, clothes and other basic necessities to those in need. Each year, over 65,000 meals are served in the Soup Kitchen and the 20-bed shelter is at full capacity over 300 days a year. The Shelter has plans to expand due to the increasing needs of our community. MacArthur will help identify key issues that need to be addressed and work closely with other leaders at RCS and the City of New Bern to develop a solid plan for expansion.
