Bate Foundation Individual School Grant Winners

Bate Foundation Grant WinnersHarold H. Bate was a philanthropist, investor, and retired lumber executive. Through his generosity, Partners In Education was honored to be selected as a grant recipient for $30,000 to be used for The Bate Foundation Individual School Grant Program for the this school year. Craven County Schools principals were encouraged to apply for this grant in the following subject areas: Arts, Music, Health and Fitness, and Athletics.  The winners were announced at the December Principals’ Meeting. The principals are pictured accepting the checks on behalf of their teams:

Digitizing and Taking Our Music into Hi-Resolution Quality, $4,320.27 – Claudia Casey, principal, with Patricia Blair Dyal, Tucker Creek Middle

Playground Equipment – $3,500.00, Kathy Leffler, principal, Arthur W. Edwards Elementary

Audio Equipment for PAC – $3,500.00, Tabari Wallace, principal with Bethany Bodurant, West Craven High

An Apple a Day Keeps the Sheet Music Away – $4,988.36, Jessica Fortescue principal, with Ashley Etheredge, West Craven Middle

The Heart Adventure Challenge Course – $4,792.50, Chris Germain, principal, Megan Davis, Brinson Memorial Elementary

Band Equipment, $4,452.00 – Shawn McCarthy, principal, with Jodi Elbing and Michelle Mara, Grover C. Fields Middle

Coach’s Eye, $4,440.00 – Catherine Alligood, principal, with Calvin Campbell, A.H. Bangert Elementary
