International Paper Presents Grant to Twin Rivers YMCA

Twin Rivers YMCA International Paper GrantInternational Paper staff members presented a $10,000 donation to Twin Rivers YMCA to provide summer camp scholarships for children who attend Twin River YMCA’s Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary summer camp. The grant is funded by International Paper Foundation.

“We believe every child deserves to be in a safe and nurturing out of school environment that allows them to reach their full potential, regardless of a family’s ability to pay for that care,” said Cindy Rice the Y’s director of financial development.

With support from community partners and YMCA members, Twin Rivers YMCA provides scholarships for families who cannot afford to pay full fees, and for all program students enrolled in Title I schools. In 2018 Twin Rivers YMCA awarded $42,434 in day camp assistance to resource challenged families. Fully 44% of campers qualified for, and received, financial assistance.

Twin Rivers YMCA is in the last 2 weeks of its annual campaign and has raised 90% of its goal of $315,000. Charitable gifts from individuals and organizations are tax deductible. Gifts may be made online at: trymca.org/give or in person or by mail to 100 YMCA Lane, New Bern, NC 28560.
