Mike Neill, President, and Jackie Lang, Vice President, of the Home Builders Association of Craven & Pamlico Counties, present a check for more than $4,000 to Jeannie Tyson, President, and Nelson McDaniel, Past-President, of the Tryon Palace Foundation, December 17, 2018. The donations were raised as part of the Home Builders Association’s annual “Governor’s Challenge Cornhole Tournament” fundraiser, November 2, 2018.

The Home Builders Association of Craven & Pamlico Counties generously presented a check to the Tryon Palace Foundation December 17, 2018 at the North Carolina History Center. The $4,045.87 check was from funds raised at the “Governor’s Challenge Cornhole Tournament” held on November 2, 2018.

The “Governor’s Challenge Cornhole Tournament” is an annual fundraising event hosted by the Home Builders Association, which raises money for the Association and the Tryon Palace Foundation’s Garden Cottage project.

“We are so grateful for the continued support of the Home Builders Association of Craven and Pamlico Counties, which has generously helped to provide funding necessary to build the Garden Cottage,” said Bill McCrea, Executive Director, Tryon Palace. “The Garden Cottage will be a place where staff and volunteers can work in comfort and safety, and will contribute to the lasting beauty of Tryon Palace’s famous gardens and grounds.”

To date, the Home Builders Association has raised more than $20,000 for Tryon Palace’s Garden Cottage.

The fifth annual Governor’s Challenge event was originally scheduled for September 28, 2018, but due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence, was rescheduled for November 2, 2018.
