Join the New Bern Yacht Club and the New Bern Grand Marina and Yacht Club during the Annual Blessing of the Fleet on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at The New Bern Grand Marina.
Everyone is welcome to observe this centuries-old tradition dating back to ancient mariners, boats will be individually blessed by local clergy for safe passage and a bountiful season. Mariners with all types and sizes of boats are encouraged to join in as we pause to give thanks for the upcoming year and to remember times past.
After the ceremony, an Honor Boat will place a wreath on the river in remembrance of Fallen Mariners. Participants are invited to join us for lunch, noon at Captain Ratty’s (prepayment required, $15 each). The USCG Auxiliary is offering free boat safety inspections before and after the ceremony.
New Bern Grand Marina is offering participants free dockage on May 11th as well as discounted overnight slip fees, based on space available.
