We Value your Opinion and We are Changing our ways of Reporting

Wendy Card - PublisherJournalism is based on Trust and it’s also based on the information that relates to People’s Lives.

Times are changing and so are we!

Since New Bern Now’s inception in 2009, our goal has always been to write articles and share information that has a positive affect on our community at large.

As we grow, so has our perspective. There have been times when we’ve heard about social issues or things happening in our town that people should know about that hasn’t been covered by the traditional media. It’s time for us to step up and do the right thing!

We’re evolving and I made the decision that when we become aware of real life issues that directly impact our community. I believe every citizen has the right to know facts that affect our quality of life.

We will continue to be publish “positive community information”.

We believe that transparency is vital to knowing our intentions.

You’ll soon be seeing a shift as we will be conducting “investigative reporting” segments. We will be accessing information and data, conducting interviews, and reporting evidence-based facts so that you can determine how important it is to you.

We have no intention of getting in the weeds and talking about National politics or spinning facts.

New Bern is a close-knit community and believe it or not, we have local issues that need to be identified and addressed to enhance the quality of life for everyone.

We’ve been publishing articles written by the people and we’ve written articles for the best interest of the public. Our values remain as we continue to write to inform you of the needs and the wants of residents and visitors, alike.

As a Local Independent News and Information Source, we are not paid by the government and we have no affiliation to political parties. We do what we do to make a difference in our community.

We’re very thankful for the short list of readers who believe in what we do and subscribe to our Paypal account to support our efforts. We are grateful to our advertisers as we couldn’t publish the Ledger magazine without their support. Obviously, “we’re not in it for the money”, but it would be great if the people who have told us how much they appreciate what we do make a small contribution to our efforts by subscribing a few dollars a month.

We have the freedom to write about things that are related to the greater good of our community. We are a Citizen Media Company and are passionate about what we do.

We welcome information from everyone, but if it is related to issues that divide people or is solely focused on any political party’s agenda (democrat, independent or republican), we’ve decided it’s not in the best interest of our audience. There are many ways to get your message across through social media.

We’re looking forward to continuing our adventures as we celebrate 10 years of providing information to you through our website, magazine, and podcast/weekly radio show!

We stand by our principals to provide you with a place to learn, enrich your life, entertain you, and inform you of what’s happening in the Greater New Bern area and surrounding towns.

Please let us know what you want us to cover. We welcome articles and announcements to keep our community informed.

Please let me know if you have any questions by calling 252-259-6853 or sending me an email.
