Handy Mart Invites Customers To Support Hope For The Warriors Through Its ‘Dog Tag’ Campaign

Hope for the Warriors

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Today, through September 1, Handy Mart is hosting its annual ‘Dog Tag’ promotion ‘Give Hope to Warriors’ to raise funds and awareness for Hope For The Warriors.

Founded aboard Camp Lejeune in 2006, Hope For The Warriors is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for veterans, service members and military families.

For the second year, patrons of Handy Mart’s 38 locations across eastern North Carolina are invited to support Hope For The Warriors by purchasing a paper dog tag for $1 or $5. Handy Mart will display the dog tags throughout the store, providing customers the opportunity to demonstrate their commitment and support for service members.

Also participating in the campaign are several Subway, Which Wich and Pizza Inn locations owned by Handy Mart’s parent company, E.J. Pope and Son, Inc.

“We are very grateful to the thousands of guests and hundreds of team members who participated in our 2018 Hope For The Warriors fundraiser, said Cory Robinson, director of marketing for Handy Mart. “We are proud to have a partnership with Hope For The Warriors and for the work they do for veterans and their family members. Handy Mart is thankful to be able to make a positive difference in the communities we serve and look forward to seeing the results from this year’s campaign.”

In 2018, Handy Mart raised $21,000 benefiting Hope For The Warriors’ programs that focus on clinical health and wellness, sports and recreation and transition services.

“Almost 13 years ago, Hope For The Warriors was started by military families in Eastern North Carolina,” said Robin Kelleher, co-founder and president/CEO of Hope For The Warriors. “Therefore, having the continued support of Handy Mart, its employees and customers is a true testament of this community’s appreciation and understanding for the sacrifices made by service members, veterans and military families.”
