New Bern, NC – Habitat for Humanity of Craven County is proud to announce that four Habitat for Humanity homeowners have made their final mortgage payment. Sandra Alvarez, Terrie Meadows, Tawanna Smith and Sallie Barrett have satisfied their mortgage and will celebrate with a symbolic mortgage burning.

The ceremony will be held at the Omega Center, located at 800 Cedar St. on Wednesday, November 13 and will begin at 6:00 p.m. There will be light refreshments to follow.

“It has been such a pleasure getting to know these homeowners who were some of the earlier homebuyers” says Betsy McDonald, Homeowner Services Coordinator. “One of the best parts of my job is celebrating huge accomplishments, such as a satisfied mortgage, with the Habitat for Humanity of Craven County family.”

The monthly mortgage payments made by the homeowners go into the “Fund for Humanity” which allows Habitat Craven County to continue to build affordable homes for qualified families.

We hope that you will join us in celebration of this momentous accomplishment and ask that if you are able to attend you kindly RSVP to Betsy McDonald, Homeowner Services Coordinator at 252-633-9599.
